"Life doesn't stop with a brain injury. It's just going to be different. You [military recreation managers] will have a big part in helping wounded warriors put their lives back together."

-- Joanne Finegan, chief executive officer and managing partner of ReMed Recovery Care Centers, a rehabilitation and long-term care provider for people with acquired brain injury, speaking to 30 military recreation managers from installations around the world on Tuesday (Feb. 24). Finegan, a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist who specializes in brain injury treatment, discussed traumatic brain injury during Penn State's Inclusive Recreation for Wounded Warriors program, held at The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel. Developed by the College of Health and Human Development's (HHD) Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Management in collaboration with HHD's School of Hospitality Management and Penn State Outreach's Management Development Programs and Services, the program is one of 12 funded by the Department of Defense through 2011. The goal is to provide recreation managers from all military branches with the knowledge, tools and resources needed to integrate active-duty wounded warriors into existing recreation programs.
