Two Beaver students to dance in February's THON

Two Penn State Beaver students will dance in the University's annual dance marathon, THON, from Feb. 15 to 17, at the Bryce Jordan Center, Penn State University Park.

Dancers are Nicole Nuske, a freshman education major from Ambridge, and Danielle Roethlein, a junior engineering major from Georgetown studying at University Park this semester. In addition, other campus students will accompany the women to provide support and boost morale.

New Kensington campus announces its four THON dancers

Move over Kim and Kourtney, Snookie and Jwow, and Honey Boo Boo and Mama June. A new group of "reality" stars is about to debut -- Penn State New Kensington's THON dancers.

Aric Fellers, Leigh Hastings, Courtney Rockwell and Bill Staniszewski were selected as this year's campus representatives for the annual Penn State Interfraternity Council/ Panhellenic Dance Marathon, affectionately known as THON. As opposed to Pete Rose's scripted reality, THON is real reality. A live webcast will be available at http://webcast.thon.psu.edu/.

Penn State York participates in record-breaking THON

Penn State York dancers Kaitlyn Dunbar, 19, of York, Pa., and Joe Weaver, 18, of York, Pa., danced two nights away and completed the 46-hour 40th annual Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON), Feb. 17 - 19, in the Bryce Jordan Center at the University Park campus. THON raised a record-breaking $10,686,924.83 for the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital, surpassing last year's record $9.56 million. York raised $10,638.61 which contributed to the total to help in the fight against pediatric cancer.

Throughout the weekend themed "Brighten Every Journey," members of the York THON Committee encouraged the dancers along with thousands of others and York's THON family, the Hagens.

Eating their vegetables, working out, getting sleep, and cutting down on caffeine and sugar are just a few things Penn State York students Kaitlyn Dunbar, 19, and Joe Weaver, 18, are doing as they get ready to head to University Park to represent the campus in the 40th Annual Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON), "Brighten Every Journey," set for Feb. 17 - 19 at the Bryce Jordan Center (BJC).

The two dancers were chosen to represent Penn State York based on a variety of criteria including spirit points they earned since September by doing a variety of activities to raise funds for THON. THON, as the dance marathon is affectionately known, is the largest student-run philanthropy in the country and its goal is to raise money to help fight pediatric cancer.

In addition to raising money, through THON, the campus sponsors the Hagens family. Ava Hagens, a 4-year-old from York, Pa., was diagnosed on July 24, 2009, with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Since that time she has undergone a variety of treatments and recently completed her chemotherapy and is in remission. This is her third trip to THON along with her parents Jessica and Greg.

Working out, breaking in new sneakers, cutting caffeine and sugar, and just plain staying healthy are just a few things Penn State York students Angi Solle, 19, and Sam Noerpel, 19, are doing as they get ready to head to University Park to represent the campus in the 39th annual Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON), "Together Without Limits," set for Feb. 18 to 20 at the Bryce Jordan Center (BJC). The two dancers were chosen to represent Penn State York based on a variety of criteria including spirit points they earned since September by doing a variety of activities to raise funds for THON. THON, as the dance marathon is affectionately known, is the largest student-run philanthropy in the country and its goal is to raise money to help fight pediatric cancer.
