State College prepares for State Patty’s Day

State College Police and local court officials are ratcheting up the ongoing town-and-gown efforts to curtail the high-risk drinking and damage that transpires on a social-media generated event referred to as "State Patty’s Day."

Board of Trustees meeting to be streamed live on Sept. 14

The Penn State Board of Trustees will hold its regular bi-monthly meeting on Friday, Sept. 14, in The Nittany Lion Inn on the University Park campus. The meeting will be streamed live by Penn State Public Broadcasting at http://wpsu.org/live. The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. with remarks from President Rodney Erickson.

Penn State, Chevron launch energy alliance

Penn State's expanded initiative in energy sciences and engineering is launching a major research alliance with one of the world's leading integrated energy companies, Chevron Energy Technology Company, to research coal conversion technologies. The joint research initiative with Chevron will focus on coal chemistry and conversion technology, advanced fuels, combustion, analysis methods, reactor science, separations, process technology, and CO2/greenhouse gas management and conversion. This alliance will also integrate research with educational and career opportunities for students and graduates specializing in coal conversion and energy technologies. Under the alliance, Chevron will provide up to $17.5 million over the next five years to the University.
