Comedian Moss looks to bring laughs, cultural understanding Feb. 6

Comedian and writer Preacher Moss will present his "End of Racism" comedy tour at 7 p.m. Feb. 6, in the auditorium of Penn State Beaver's Student Union Building. The event is free and open to the public.

Bryant Reginald Moss earned the nickname "Preacher" because of his imitations of the pastor at his family's church. Raised as a Christian in a Maryland suburb, he attended a local military academy and converted to Islam at age 20.

Fourth-year medical students across the country have learned where they will spend their residencies. For more than 120 students at Penn State College of Medicine, their Match Day event on Friday, March 16, at Hershey Country Club included a countdown to the moment when they ripped open the envelopes that held their futures. Penn State Beaver alumnus wins Keystone Press Award

Penn State Beaver alumnus Justin Vorbach is the winner of the 2012 Student Keystone Press Award in the category of Cartoon/Graphic Illustration. He was honored for photo and cover illustrations and an editorial cartoon he contributed to spring semester editions of The Roar, Beaver's student newspaper, during his senior year. The Student Keystone Press Awards recognize college and high school journalism that provides relevance, integrity and initiative in serving readers.

Vorbach graduated from Beaver with a bachelor's degree in business in May 2011 and began working as an admissions counselor and the Lion Ambassadors adviser at Penn State New Kensington in October. He can be contacted at jav5121@psu.edu or 724-334-6018.

Why did you go into higher education policy studies?

I started my career in higher education as an administrator, working primarily in the information technology field. After doing this for a dozen years, I got tired of it and went to graduate school, thinking I would train for some other administrative career. But instead I got turned on to teaching and doing research, and that inspired me to become a professor.

What's the biggest challenge faced by American colleges and universities?

Beaver County College Fair will be held Oct. 7
