The Nittany Lion men's 4x800-meter relay - sophomore Robby Creese (Mount Airy, Md.), freshman Za'Von Watkins (Liverpool, N.Y.), senior Casimir Loxsom (New Haven, Conn.), and freshman Brannon Kidder (Lancaster, Ohio) captured a "Championship of America" victory for the second straight year, Saturday (April 27) on the final day of the prestigious Penn Relays Carnival at Franklin Field.

Director and Head Coach of Track and Field/Cross Country Beth Alford-Sullivan was named United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) Mid-Atlantic Region Men's Coach of the Year on Monday, while Associate Head Coach John Gondak, and Assistant Coach Randy Bungard also received recognition for their coaching accomplishments. Senior Casimir Loxsom (New Haven, Conn.) also garnered one of the regional honors, as the middle distance standout was named USTFCCCA Mid-Atlantic Men's Track Athlete of the Year.

True freshman Brannon Kidder (Lancaster, Ohio) dipped under the 4:00 mile barrier Saturday (Jan. 26) at the Penn State National, highlighting a slew of outstanding performances across the board at Ashenfelter III Indoor Track. Junior Casimir Loxsom (New Haven, Conn.) would add another bullet point to his resume on Saturday afternoon, setting an American Collegiate Record in the 600 meters. All told, the Nittany Lions turned in nine victories over the two-day competition, including a collegiate-record setting performance from the men's 4x200-meter relay on Friday evening.

Senior Joe Kovacs (Nazareth, Pa.), junior Casimir Loxsom (New Haven, Conn.) and sophomore Brady Gehret (Altoona, Pa.) claimed individual titles, while the quartet of Aaron Nadolsky (Altoona, Pa.), Loxsom, Gehret, and Brandon Bennett-Green (Elkins Park, Pa.) took top honors in the 4x400-meter relay to wrap up a stellar weekend of action, Sunday at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships at McClimon Track. The Nittany Lions will continue their postseason drive in the coming weeks, traveling to the NCAA Eastern Preliminary Round at the University of North Florida, May 24-26.

Loxsom to represent U.S. at World University Games

Following a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, and a sixth-place showing at the USATF Championships, rising junior Casimir Loxsom (New Haven, Conn.) has been selected to represent the United States at the World University Games, set for August 12-23, in Shenzhen, China. Loxsom has been on a tear over the last month, setting a new school record at 800-meters at the Harry Jerome Classic in Vancouver last weekend.

For the second-straight outdoor season, sophomore Casimir Loxsom (New Haven, Conn.) has been named United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches' Assocation (USTFCCCA) Mid-Atlantic Region Track Athlete of the Year. Loxsom, who won his second-consecutive Big Ten outdoor title at 800-meters last month, continues to impress this outdoor season, having advanced through the semi-final round of the 800, Wednesday at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
