Tea and garden tour of Ramage estate in Ford Cliff

Flowers, shrubs and unusual trees highlight a garden tour from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, on the estate of Jim and Lynn Ramage in Ford Cliff, Pa. The Afternoon Tea and Garden Tour, includes woodland gardens, perennial gardens and designed areas featuring bulbs, plants, bushes and unique trees planted by the Ramages, Penn State Extension Master Gardeners, on the couple's 37 acres in Armstrong County. A donation of $10 is requested and all proceeds benefit Penn State New Kensington's current fundraising endeavor, For the Future: The Campaign for Penn State Students.

Alumni, friends, community, donors help Beaver campus reach milestones

As the fall semester came to a close, Penn State Beaver reached several milestones -- one on campus and one in the community -- with the help of faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends.

In December, Chancellor Gary Keefer and Diana Patterson, director of development, announced that the campus has raised $2 million for "For the Future: The Campaign for Penn State Students;" friends and members of the Beaver Valley Area Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association solicited gifts from the community for 129 children as part of the group's annual holiday gift drive for clients of Beaver County Children and Youth Services; and the Penn State Beaver Alumni Society raised more than $21,000 for Beaver campus scholarships through its 11th annual golf outing.

Campus' 'For the Future' fundraising campaign updated

Penn State New Kensington continues the public phase of its fundraising campaign, "For the Future: The Campaign for Penn State Students," that highlights scholarships, athletics and global initiatives. The campaign is a University-wide effort to raise $2 billion by June 2014. New Kensington is responsible for $3 million of the total. During the private phase of the campaign that began in 2007 and during the current public phase that began in 2010, New Kensington raised $1.8 million, which is 60 percent of its total. "With three years remaining in the campaign, we are on track to reach our goal," said Donna Speer, New Kensington's director of development. "Our objectives reflect the most critical needs for revitalization of our campus and our main objective is to build a campus of the future that enriches the experiences of students beyond the classroom, and serves the community needs of the Alle-Kiski Valley."

Fayette publicly launches campaign; Chair pledges $250,000 challenge

Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus launched the public phase of For the Future: The Campaign for Penn State Students recently at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and Spa during the third annual Blues and White Gala scholarship fundraiser. The announcement was made by Francis Achampong, chancellor of Penn State Fayette, and Joseph A. Hardy III, volunteer chair of the campus campaign committee.

Hardy issued a surprise challenge to the alumni and friends of the campus in attendance, stating that he would match campaign contributions and commitments received by June 30, 2011, on a dollar-for-dollar basis, up to a total of $250,000. He said, "I hope that this challenge will give the campaign a spark and spur excitement among our community."

Larry and Ellen Foster provide $500,000 for College of Communications

The latest gift from Penn State alumni Larry and Ellen Foster will create a $400,000 Trustee Matching Scholarship and will provide $100,000 for equipment in the new multimedia laboratory and newsroom housed in the College of Communications. "Larry and Ellen's most recent contribution to the College will be a significant boost to our totals for Penn State's 'For the Future' capital campaign, to be sure, but, most importantly, it will make life better for our students," Dean Doug Anderson said. "The impact that the Fosters' generosity has had on the College is unparalleled and strategically invested."

Penn State Hershey Campaign names chair

Dennis P. Brenckle, president of PNC Bank, Central Pa., has been named chair of Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center's new campaign committee. For the Future: The Campaign for Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, is part of Penn State's university-wide fundraising effort, For the Future: The Campaign for Penn State Students.

Alumni provide $100,000 gift to support existing fund

Two award-winning Penn State alumni, a husband-and-wife tandem of Hollywood producers, have made a $100,000 estate gift to the University to support an endowment for film students in the College of Communications.
