After a tremendous record-breaking senior campaign, outfielder Cassidy Bell earned first-team All-Big Ten honors, the conference announced Wednesday (May 8) morning. Bell also found her way on the All-Defensive list while picking up the team’s sportsmanship award.

Senior Petra Januskova (Ottawa, Canada) and freshman Jacqueline Zuhse (Boca Raton, Fla.) were honored at the Big Ten Conference Banquet Thursday night. No. 69 Januskova was named to the All-Big Ten First Team while Zuhse was a Sportsmanship Award Honoree.

Sophomore Craig Hernandez (Libertyville, Ill.) headlined the contingent of Nittany Lions competing during the individual finals at the Big Ten Championships on Saturday (April 6) when he claimed his second straight pommel horse championship. Penn State also picked up the Big Ten Freshman of the Year award when Trevor Howard earned the top rookie honors.

Merriam, Musser named First Team All-Big Ten

Following a phenomenal regular season, Penn State women's gymnastics senior co-captains Sharaya Musser (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Madison Merriam (Gaithersburg, Md.) have been named First Team All-Big Ten selections. Musser takes home first team honors for the fourth time in her career, while this is Merriam's first time on the first team.

Penn State's explosive backcourt tandem of junior Jermaine Marshall (Etters, Pa.) and sophomore D.J. Newbill (Philadelphia, Pa.) were both named 2012-13 All-Big Ten Men's Basketball Team honorable mention on Monday (March 11) by both the Big Ten coaches and voting media. Senior guard Nick Colella (New Castle, Pa.) was named Penn State's Sportsmanship Award winner.

The Penn State men’s swimming and diving team concluded the 2013 Big Ten Championships on Saturday (March 2) evening, finishing in eighth place with a total of 212 points. Following Michigan winning its third consecutive conference title, junior Sean Grier (Hummelstown, Pa.) was named Second Team All-Big Ten for the second straight year.

Junior guard Maggie Lucas (Narberth, Pa.) capped an outstanding season by earning 2013 Big Ten Player of the Year honors from both the coaches and media, while Lady Lion head coach Coquese Washington claimed her second-straight Big Ten Coach of the Year award from the media.

Women's swimming and diving places third at Big Ten Championships

The Nittany Lions closed out the 2013 Big Ten Championships with a third place finish on Saturday, Feb. 23 at the University Aquatic Center at the University of Minnesota. Penn State watched as Alyson Ackman (Montreal, Quebec) and Paige Whitmire (Lederach, Pa.) both earned first team All-Big Ten and the trio of Carolyn Fittin (Sea Grit, N.J.), Merritt Krawczyk (Kingwood, Texas) and Katelyn Miller (Hershey, Pa.) all garnered second team All-Big Ten.

Women's volleyball earns 10 Big Ten postseason awards

Seven members of the No. 1 Penn State women's volleyball team (29-2, 19-1 Big Ten) garnered Big Ten postseason awards. Junior Ariel Scott (Ridgewood, N.J.) was named the Big Ten Player of the Year, sophomore Micha Hancock (Edmond, Okla.) was tabbed the inaugural Big Ten Setter of the Year, freshman Megan Courtney (Dayton, Ohio) was honored as the Big Ten Freshman of the Year and head coach Russ Rose earned Big Ten Coach of the Year laurels.

Seven Penn State Football student-athletes have been selected to the 2012 All-Big Ten teams in voting by the conference coaches and media, with six Nittany Lions earning first-team honors.

The Nittany Lions' contingent is led by senior Michael Mauti (Mandeville, La.), who was selected the Butkus-Fitzgerald Linebacker of the Year and sophomore Allen Robinson (Southfield, Mich.), who was named the Richter-Howard Receiver of the Year.

Mauti, Robinson and senior defensive tackle Jordan Hill (Steelton) were selected first-team All-Big Ten by the coaches and media. Senior center Matt Stankiewitch (Orwigsburg) and junior guard John Urschel (Williamsville, N.Y.) were selected to the coaches' first-team and media second-team and redshirt freshman tight end Kyle Carter (Bear, Del.) was named to the media first-team.

Warming named Big Ten Men's Soccer Coach of the Year

The Penn State men's soccer team collected multiple Big Ten awards after a season full of outstanding individual efforts that led the team to a regular-season conference title, the Big Ten office announced Thursday night.Head coach Bob Warming was honored as Coach of the Year while seven players found spots on all-conference teams, the most for Penn State since 2005. Jacob Barron and John Gallagher were named First Team All-Big Ten team and Julian Cardona, Hasani Sinclair, Owen Griffith and Andrew Wolverton landed on the Second Team All-Big Ten list. Rookie Drew Klingenberg was named to the All-Freshman Team, as well. Daniel Burnham picked up the team's Sportsmanship Award.

Women's soccer wins Big Ten Coach, Players of the Year honors

For the second time in her career as head coach of the Penn State women's soccer program, Erica Walsh has been named Big Ten Coach of the Year the conference office announced on Wednesday (Oct. 31) morning. Joining Walsh on the major award list is junior Maya Hayes (West Orange, N.J.), who was named Forward of the Year; senior Christine Nairn (Arnold, Md.), earning Midfielder of the Year; sophomore Whitney Church (Ashburn, Va.), being named Defender of the Year; and freshman Raquel Rodriguez (San Jose Costa, Rica), who earned Big Ten Freshman of the Year, a unanimous selection.

Women's cross country third at Big Ten Championships

Junior Rebekka Simko (Mentor, Ohio) placed fifth overall - capturing First Team All-Conference status - to lead the No. 13 Nittany Lion women's cross country team to an impressive third-place finish, Sunday at the Big Ten Cross Country Championships at Michigan State University. Redshirt-freshman Robby Creese(Mount Airy, Md.) was the top finishing Nittany Lion on the men's side, taking 23rd overall to help the Blue and White to a sixth-place showing in the team standings.

Morett named Big Ten Coach of the Year; Amy, Grzywacz honored

For the fifth time in her career as the head coach of the Penn State field hockey team, Charlene Morett has been named the 2012 Big Ten Coach of the Year, the conference office announced Thursday morning. Senior Kelsey Amy (Sweet Valley, Pa.) was named the 2012 Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and junior Brittany Grzywacz (Collegeville, Pa.) was named the 2012 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, as well. This is first time since 2008 that Morett has been named Coach of the Year, and the first time since 2008 that a Nittany Lion has earned Offensive or Defensive Player of the Year honors.
