Professional Attire Closet collecting clothing donations for students in need

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Career Services is collecting professional clothing donations for students in need throughout the summer months.

The Professional Attire Closet will be available to students this September, two weeks before Fall Career Days. Students are encouraged to use the items for interviews, networking events and other professional opportunities.

Started in 2015, the closet has helped hundreds of students dress for success without the barrier of cost. Offered each semester, the closet helped more than 300 students during the past academic year.

“People are willing to give when they know there is a need,” said Vickie Clauer, program assistant in Penn State Career Services. “Donating a suit, blouse, or a tie is a simple way to lighten back-to-school expenses and help students prepare for their future.”

Donations can be dropped off during business hours at the Bank of America Career Services Center lobby, the Hintz Family Alumni Center, and the Business Building. For more information, contact the Career Services programming team at 814-865-4630.

As students begin planning for the fall semester, many have questions about how to develop and pursue their career goals. Career Services, a unit of Penn State Student Affairs, offers programs and career-counseling services to assist students. More information about upcoming programs and events can be found online at studentaffairs.psu.edu/career.
