Penn State Smeal MBAs place 1st in Fisher Invitational Big Ten+ Case Competition

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Four MBA students from the Penn State Smeal College of Business recently teamed up to take first place in the Fisher Invitational Big Ten+ MBA Case Competition at Ohio State.

First-year MBA students Anik Choudhury, Peter Jabaut, Tracy Schroeder and Sophia Schuster collaborated for the win. They were coached by Nancy Mahon, clinical associate professor of business communication.

The competition centered on Bob Evans Restaurants. Teams toured retail sites, interacted with company executives, and then had 24 hours to develop a comprehensive pitch outlining concrete recommendations to address the company’s current challenges.

Competition judges included key Bob Evans senior leadership as well as executives from other corporations.

Smeal defeated teams from Illinois and Wisconsin in the first round. In the final round, Smeal finished ahead of second-place Purdue and third-place Michigan State.

“I’m extremely impressed with our team’s efforts and professionalism,” Mahon said. “I’m especially proud of our students’ representation of Smeal.”
