DuBois softball team marks first win

DUBOIS, Pa. — The Penn State DuBois softball team hammered out 16 hits en route to the program's first-ever win by defeating Penn State New Kensington 13-5 on Tuesday afternoon (April 10).

The offense was led by Adrianna Terwilliger, who went 4 for 6 at the plate with a double, a 2-run home run and 6 runs batted in. Laura Fatula was 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and 3 runs batted in. Cierra O'Shell, Morgan Uhl and Autumn Shaffer also doubled for DuBois. Shaffer picked up the win by pitching all 7 innings.

In game 2 of the double header, Penn State DuBois trailed 3-0 when Laura Fatula led off the fifth inning with an infield single. After a walk to Autumn Shaffer, Morgan Uhl singled in Fatula. One out later, Koren McCullough doubled in Shaffer and Uhl to tie the game. Cierra O'Shell singled in McCullough for the go ahead run. After a wild pitch moved the runners up, Adrianna Terwilliger scored Kyrsten Enseki on a sacrifice fly to complete a 5-run fifth inning. Fatula finished 2 for 3 with a double and a run batted in. Uhl finished 2 for 4 with 2 runs batted in. Shaffer earned the win coming in relief and pitching 6 and 2/3 innings giving up 4 runs.
