Spring commencement scheduled for May 6

The baccalaureate spring commencement will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, May 6, in the Bryce Jordan Center. A reception will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on the Chambers Building patio, weather permitting. Provost Nicholas Jones will award degrees and Michelle Cooper, president of the Institute for Higher Education Policy, will deliver the commencement address. Reserved faculty seating arrangements can be confirmed in advance by emailing Christi McClellan at cym8@psu.edu no later than Friday, April 27.

Graduate degree commencement will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, May 6, in the Bryce Jordan Center. A reception will take place from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on the Chambers Building patio, weather permitting. Faculty are invited to join in the graduate processional wearing academic regalia and should meet at the Bryce Jordan Center at 6 p.m.

DCEC to host intercultural linguistic workshop

The College of Education's Diversity and Community Enhancement Committee (DCEC), the University Libraries, and the English for Professional Purposes Intercultural Center will hold an event from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, April 23, in 221 Chambers Building. The event is designed for faculty, staff and graduate students and will focus on exploring strategies for encouraging intercultural connections in teaching and advising. Participants also will have the opportunity to learn about campus resources for international and multilingual students. SafeZone training offered to college community

A SafeZone 101 training will be provided by the LGBTQA Student Resource Center from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, April 30, in 106 Chambers Building. The training is for faculty, staff and graduate students and aims to help participants develop awareness of LGBTQ topics. It also is an opportunity to become more comfortable supporting LGBTQ students and to be able to help students find campus and local resources.
