Discussion panel for first-generation college students set for April 24

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — First Gen Advocates, a new student organization at Penn State, will hold a “First Generation Discussion Panel” from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, in Chambers Building’s Krause Learning Space at University Park.

Members of the panel, comprised of first-generation college students and alumni speakers, will share their experiences as first-generation students and offer their perspectives and advice to current first-gen students. The discussion is free and open to all students; no registration is required. Refreshments will be provided.

The purpose of First Gen Advocates is to promote awareness, advocacy and mentorship in order to further support first-generation college students at Penn State. Any undergraduate or graduate student is welcome to join. For more information, email Beth Gilfillan at ehg5@psu.edu.
