Two engineering programs make significant jumps in U.S. News graduate rankings

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — In the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings of graduate schools, two Penn State engineering specialty disciplines made significant jumps from last year’s rankings.

Civil engineering, ranked No. 17 in the country in the 2019 U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools rankings, jumped up four spots from last year’s report. Biomedical engineering, ranked No. 31, rose five spots.

Three programs — biological engineering, industrial engineering, and nuclear engineering — continue to be ranked in the top 10 of their specialty categories.

In addition to biomedical engineering and civil engineering, three programs — biological engineering, industrial engineering, and materials engineering — also improved since last year’s report. Aerospace engineering remained unchanged at No. 15.
