ScreenU offers free online screenings and resources for substance abuse help

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Health Promotion and Wellness is offering a free and anonymous online screening to help students who are struggling with the misuse of alcohol, marijuana or prescription medications.

ScreenU is a brief anonymous assessment that can be completed in less than 3 minutes. The tool provides feedback and strategies to help students reduce their risk for experiencing negative consequences from the use of these substances. The feedback is personalized and non-judgmental. Students receive recommendations and information about helpful campus, community and national resources for prevention, support, treatment and recovery.

ScreenU also provides participants with tips to keep them and their friends safe.

“Every Penn State student should take the time to go through all three programs,” said Ame Golaszewski, coordinator in Health Promotion and Wellness, a unit of Student Affairs. “Because the ScreenU programs are brief, can be accessed online and provide immediate feedback and resources, we hope students take advantage of this unique opportunity to evaluate their own behaviors."
