UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Center for Global Studies at Penn State is calling for students to submit papers for the upcoming Penn State – Pittsburgh Undergraduate Research Symposium. The symposium provides a platform for students to showcase their research and engage in networking. The theme for this year’s symposium is "Global eyes: Critical Perspectives of an Interconnected World."

The Center is looking for papers across all disciplines that highlight our interconnected world. Papers on topics including, but not limited to, economy, gender, health, education, politics, media, nationalism, ethnicity, spirituality and community, which address the theme of interconnectedness, will be accepted.

Papers should be 8-10 pages and be double-spaced, with citations of at least eight resources (MLA or APA format). Students will be limited to 10 minutes, with five minutes for questions. There will be a minimum of three judges who will read the papers prior to the event and provide feedback. Students interested in presenting must first submit an abstract (due March 2, 2018) via a Google forms application.

Students selected to present will be notified via email by March 6. For those who are selected, the final paper is due by 5 p.m. on March 28.

The event will take place on April 6 and will include a keynote lecture, student presentations, and student networking. The event is co-hosted by Penn State’s Title VI Center for Global Studies and the University of Pittsburgh’s Global Studies Center and will be held at The Nittany Lion Inn in State College, Pennsylvania.
