Global Safety Office hosts UnitedHealthcare Global chief of intelligence Feb. 21

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Global Safety Office with Global Programs will be hosting a conversation with the Chief of Intelligence at UnitedHealthcare Global, Matt Burdette, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21, in 232A HUB-Robeson Center.

UnitedHealthcare global is Penn State’s international emergency medical and evacuation provider and a recognized leader in the field. UHCG leverages vast resources, expertise, insights and intelligence, technologies and global relationships to positively influence consumer health and guide the efficiency of health systems and care for more than 6 million people in more than 130 countries. Burdette and his team are a critical component of UnitedHealthcare Global’s crisis management and security evacuation operations when significant international incidents and natural disasters occur, including during the triple hurricanes of 2017, the 2011 Arab Spring, and the 2010 Haitian earthquake.

Burdette has been a part of the Global Risk team for more than 19 years and has written articles for industry publications on Pakistan’s future outlook, the threat of surface-to-air missiles and the changing security environment for corporate aircraft. He has been quoted in interviews by Congressional Quarterly and European Business Aviation News and has provided interviews for the National Business Aviation Association’s (NBAA) Flight Plan on Identity Theft and the 2012 Summer Olympics. More recently he has regularly been a security presenter on the International Operator’s Committee for the National Business Aviation Association as well as the International Studies Association in addition to client meetings, company engagements, and employee training sessions.

Burdette will discuss how his team conducts international risk analysis and oversees international operations which will be followed by an engaging Q&A session. All interested students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend.
