Cassar named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Nittany Lion sophomore Anthony Cassar has been named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week for the week ending Feb. 4. He becomes Penn State’s second Big Ten weekly winner, joining Vincenzo Joseph who won the honor on Jan. 16.

Cassar took down No. 1 Kollin Moore of Ohio State at 197 pounds, defeating the formerly unbeaten Buckeye 6-3. Cassar's victory helped spark a Nittany Lion run that led to a 19-18 victory over the visiting Buckeyes in sold out Rec Hall. Cassar notched takedowns in the second and third periods and picked up 1:16 in riding time while not giving up a takedown to roll to the win. He improves to 16-2 on the year for Penn State.

His win was one of four straight in the second half as Penn State overcame a 10-point halftime deficit to down the Buckeyes in front of nearly 7,000 fans in the 40th straight Rec Hall sellout for Penn State. The dual win clinched at least a share of the Big Ten Dual Meet Championship for Penn State, was the team's 43rd straight overall and its 24th straight Big Ten dual victory.
