Penn State Lehigh Valley announces new faculty and staff members

Penn State Lehigh Valley has announced the following new faculty and staff hires:

Anne Alexander has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as a part-time instructor in communications. Alexander earned a master of fine arts in writing from Columbia University, as well as a bachelor of arts in English from Rutgers University. She had previously served as senior vice president and editorial director of the Prevention Brand at Rodale, and she is currently president of Brand Strategies, Inc. Alexander is the author of two New York Times bestselling books. She currently resides in New Tripoli.

Emily Collins has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as the digital communications coordinator. Collins earned a bachelor of arts in corporate communication from Penn State Lehigh Valley. She had previously served as the part-time PR coordinator at Penn State Lehigh Valley. Collins currently resides in Easton.

Gayle F. Hendricks has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as a part-time instructor in communications.  Hendricks earned a master of fine arts from Marywood University, as well as a bachelor of arts in sociology from Cedar Crest College. She had previously served as adjunct faculty at Northampton Community College, Lehigh Carbon Community College and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Online Division, as well as a graphic designer at Lafayette College. Hendricks currently residents in Bethlehem.

Douglas Hochstetler was named interim director of academic affairs at Penn State Lehigh Valley. Hochstetler earned a doctorate of philosophy in kinesiology with an emphasis in sport philosophy from Penn State, as well as a master of science in physical education from West Chester University, and a bachelor of arts in physical education from Northwestern College in Iowa. He has served as professor of kinesiology at Penn State Lehigh Valley since 2002. He is the current editor-in-chief of Quest, the official journal of National Association for Kinesiology in Higher Education. Hochstetler currently resides in Allentown.

Nicole Moschberger has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as the director of the Lehigh Valley Writing Project. Moschberger earned a master of fine arts in writing from Southern New Hampshire University, as well as a bachelor of arts in English and a PA Secondary Education Certification from Lycoming College. She also completed a National Writing Project Fellowship at Penn State Lehigh Valley. Moschberger had previously served as an adjunct instructor in English at Northampton Community College, and as a teacher consultant for the Lehigh Valley Writing Project. She currently resides in Bethlehem.

Valerie L. Peters was named business development associate of Lehigh Valley LaunchBox at Penn State Lehigh Valley. Peters earned a bachelor of arts in mass communications from the University of South Florida. She had previously served as the part-time program manager of Lehigh Valley LaunchBox, before that as senior director of communications and public affairs at Yeshiva University in New York City, and is currently principal of VLP Communications. Peters currently resides in downtown Bethlehem.

Doug Smith has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as the campus police officer. Smith earned an associate degree in criminal justice and Act 120 certification from Montgomery County Police Academy. Smith currently resides in Quakertown.

Andrea Tessier has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as the director of community outreach and engagement. Tessier earned a master of public administration from the University of Maine. She had previously served as district director at Penn State Extension in Lehigh and Northampton Counties. She was with the Ohio State University Extension before moving to Pennsylvania. Tessier currently resides in Emmaus.

Steven Yoachim has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as part of the janitorial maintenance staff. Yoachim had previously served as a warehouse associate at Kwik Goal. He currently residents in Allentown.
