Graduate assistants and fellows urged to verify benefit information in Workday

Workday, part of the WorkLion platform, is replacing the existing University Health Services Graduate Benefit Enrollment System (GBES). All graduate assistants and fellows enrolled in the Penn State Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) are encouraged to log in to Workday between Dec. 10, 2017, and Jan. 17, 2018, to verify that benefit information for themselves and any eligible dependents is correct. This will help avoid any unexpected disruptions in health insurance coverage.

Vision, health and dental benefits for all graduate assistants, graduate fellows and eligible dependents enrolled in the Penn State SHIP for the fall 2017 enrollment period will end Dec. 31, 2017. Spring and summer benefits begin Jan. 1, 2018. There is no gap in health insurance coverage.

Penn State monitoring CVS Health-Aetna proposed merger

Penn State is aware of the merger announcement with CVS Health and Aetna, anticipated to close the second half of 2018. At this time, the merger has no impact to 2018 health care benefits provided by the University. The University will work closely with both CVS Health and Aetna in the coming months to understand how the merger may impact Penn State’s health care plans, if at all, and will communicate updates to employees, as they become available.

College newsletters will return in January

Due to the holiday break, Bridges and Connections, the College's official newsletters, will go on a brief hiatus. Bridges will resume on Wednesday, Jan. 10, followed by Connections on Wednesday, Jan. 17. Both newsletters will continue to follow their bi-weekly schedule throughout the spring semester. Questions regarding the newsletters may be sent to edrelations@psu.edu.

If you have an announcement you would like to share with the College of Education, send it via email to edrelations@psu.edu. Submissions must include a contact name and telephone number so that Connections can verify the information.
