Alumnus joins Bellisario College as associate director of development

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — A journalism alumnus with award-winning experience has joined the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications as associate director of development.

Matt Eichelberger, who graduated in 2007, most recently served as communications manager for the East Central Division of the American Cancer Society (ACS) since 2015. Prior to that, he held an internal communications role with the cancer society.

During his time with ACS, at which he started as an income development representative in 2007, Eichelberger held roles in fundraising management focusing on sponsorship strategies, volunteer recruitment and building an innovative culture of development.

He has worked and volunteered extensively in the State College community, including serving as staff partner for the fundraising committee of Coaches vs. Cancer of Penn State.

Eichelberger’s accolades include the National Terry Zahn Award for excellence in marketing and public relations, the National Advocacy Recruitment Award for excellence in targeted audience development, and the Division Staff Marketing Award for excellence in youth marketing.
