Penn State College of Medicine’s Department of Public Health Sciences has been selected to create an interprofessional team to participate in the 2018 International Emory Global Health Case Competition. This is the first time a team from Penn State has been selected to participate in the annual event.
The competition will bring together teams from more than 20 universities to address worldwide health issues and develop innovative solutions for improving global health systems. The competition will take place at Emory University in Atlanta from March 16 to 18, 2018.
“This is a very exciting opportunity for Penn State students,” said Kristin Sznajder, assistant professor of public health sciences and associate director of international initiatives. “It is a chance to challenge their creativity in problem solving, improve critical thinking skills and connect with a community of global health students and faculty.”
The Penn State team will include four to six graduate students from different degree programs, such as public health sciences, medicine, nursing, engineering, business and agriculture. Sznajder will mentor the student team.
The team winning the top honor will receive a cash prize. In addition to first-, second- and third-place honors, the competition also recognizes an honorable mention team and innovation awardee.
