ROSEMONT, Ill. - Six members of the Penn State women's soccer team received postseason honors from the Big Ten, as announced by the conference office Friday afternoon.
For Penn State, four Nittany Lions were tabbed with All-Big Ten honors, as Emily Ogle was named to the First Team, Kaleigh Riehl and Megan Schafer received Second Team plaudits, and Charlotte Williams was named to the Third Team.
Along the Penn State quartet that garnered All-Big Ten Team honors, Frankie Tagliaferri was named to the All-Freshman Team and Laura Suero received the Sportsmanship Award for Penn State.
Ogle, a redshirt junior, started all 17 matches in the midfield for the Nittany Lions during the regular season. On the year, she has tallied 11 points on four goals and three assists.
Riehl, a redshirt sophomore, has been an anchor on the backline for the Nittany Lions this season, as she leads the team in minutes played with 1,534. Riehl netted her lone goal of the regular season in a 4-2 victory at Arkansas on Aug. 25.
Schafer, a senior, garnered All-Big Ten Second Team honors for the second time in her career (2015). On the year, she has 13 points on five goals and three assists. Schafer's 13 points and five goals are a team-best this season. In the all-time Penn State record books, Schafer ranks 16th in points (77) and is tied for 15th in goals (30).
Williams, a junior, received All-Big Ten Third Team honors for the second-straight season after posting 10 points on two goals and six assists during the regular season. Williams' six assists this season are a team-best and ranks tied for fifth in the conference.
Tagliaferri, a forward/midfielder, played in all 17 games during the regular season and tallied two goals on 11 shot attempts. In the second match of the season, Tagliaferri's first career goal proved to be the winner, as Penn State topped Hofstra, 3-0, on Aug. 20.
Suero, a defender, made one appearance for the Nittany Lions during the 2017 regular season.
The Nittany Lions will be back in action in the Big Ten quarterfinal round as the fifth seed on Sunday, Oct. 29.
