UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — On Monday, Nov. 6, The Field restaurant is hosting the Child Care Center at Hort Woods as part of its "The Field Gives Back" philanthropic mission. The center will receive 10 percent of the profits from sales from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. These funds will support professional-development opportunities for educators, and community-building activities between the center and enrolled families. This event is being facilitated by the parent/teacher organization (PTO) at the center.

“The PTO is excited to organize this community event to highlight the development and creativity of our children and their educators,” said Nicole Cingolani, PTO officer at Hort Woods, mother of two children who attend Hort Woods, and AAIT consultant at Penn State’s College of Arts and Architecture. “This event will help us achieve our primary goals of strengthening parenting networks and supporting our teachers.”

In conjunction with the event, the PTO is organizing a Children’s Art Show in the lobby of The Field. A silent auction will run throughout the day, and other art work will be available for purchase 5-8 p.m.

The center has an on-going partnership with faculty and students within the art education program in the School of Visual Arts at Penn State. Students and faculty have supported the center in growing the arts education component of their Reggio-inspired curriculum.

“The Reggio philosophy aligns with the center’s emergent curriculum. It strengthens the relationships between teachers and children, who are naturally curious learners and researchers of knowledge by provoking child-led investigations and fostering creativity,” said Christine Ebeling, director for the Child Care Center at Hort Woods.

The event will also feature local entertainment provided by musicians Hops & Vines.

The Field is located at 1 Country Club Lane, in State College. For more information and to make a reservation, visit The Field’s website at http://www.toftrees.com/the-field.htm.
