LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. — Penn State Laureate Andrew Belser will present his multi-media exhibition, “Face.Age,” at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus, at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8, in the Student Center on campus.

"Face.Age" is an immersive, three-screen loop of media featuring “cross-generational encounters” between adolescents and senior citizens, according to Belser’s personal website, in which "participants are seen studying, describing and touching one another’s faces.”

Conceived in 2012, "Face.Age" challenges allowable behavior in traditional social settings to afford the close study of human faces and stories. Belser directed the pilot installation in collaboration with a team of filmmakers, a computer scientist and a gerontologist. The installation has received installation invitations from the National Science Institute of Taiwan, the Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington, North Carolina, and other venues.

Belser is a professor in Penn State's MFA in Theatre program, at the University Park campus. He founded a theatre company and research center, The Gravity Project, and has directed over 75 theatre productions. He is the director of the Arts and Design Research Incubator at University Park, a studio where creatives collaborate with scientists, writers, philosophers and others to develop international projects.

In a culture experiencing significant growth in its aging population, and one that is increasingly divided along lines of income, race, sexual preference and political beliefs, "Face.Age" proposes intergenerational connection as a vital component of healthy communities.

The event is free and open to the public.
