Legendary basketball coach Bob Hurley Sr. will visit the Penn State York campus on Saturday, Oct. 28 to offer a coaches’ clinic, from 1- 3 p.m., and an evening program, at 6 p.m., to share his story.  Both programs take place in the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center, and are sponsored by the Penn State York men’s basketball program and the athletic department.

Hurley is best known for his work as head basketball coach at St. Anthony's High School in Jersey City, New Jersey. Hurley and his teams won 28 New Jersey State Championships and four National Titles during his time there. He was the recipient of 2017 ESPY Award for "Best Coach," and is a three-time USA Today Coach of the Year, 1989, 1996 and 2008. He was inducted to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010.

“Having legendary and Hall of Fame Coach Bob Hurley Sr. grace the campus of Penn State York is an amazing opportunity for every player and coach across the mid-state to learn basketball, and hear his life's journey in the game,“ said Parrish Petry, Penn State York’s head men’s basketball coach. “Coach Hurley is perhaps the greatest high school basketball coach in the history of the game."

The coaches’ clinic, from 1-3 p.m. is for designed for coaches of all age groups, from youth to advanced levels. Hurley brings years of coaching experiences, and will be on the court instructing and demonstrating various drills and techniques on every aspect of the game of basketball. He will be sharing the coaching tips that made him famous. The goal of the clinic is to help equip coaches with the skills for greater success in their programs.

Cost for the clinic is $20.

The second opportunity to interact with Hurley is at 6 p.m. with “An Evening with Coach Bob Hurley.”  During this presentation, Hurley, one of the winningest coaches in all of high school basketball, will share his life story, his passion for coaching, and talk about how he handled the pressure of being one of the best coaches in the country.

As a coach myself, I am sure this will promise to be a valuable learning experience for all who attend,” said Jeff Barkdoll, athletic director and head baseball coach at Penn State York.  “I am truly looking forward to this event myself. and I am hopeful that others will be as excited as we are as a staff to share in this experience."

Following his presentation, Hurley will answer questions, sign autographs, and do a book signing.

Cost for the evening program, is $20.
