UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — With the bombardment of America’s chart-topping pop tunes swirling around campus, students can seek relief in instrumental compositions. The Center for the Performing Arts partners with various Penn State units and student organizations to present the fifth season of Classical Coffeehouse. The concert series consists of three events at 8 p.m. on the Mondays of Oct. 23, Nov. 6 and March 19 at the Hintz Family Alumni Center’s Robb Hall.

“We’ve been fortunate to host a variety of world-class artists that have embraced the coffeehouse concept, making each presentation a uniquely engaging experience,” said George Trudeau, director at the Center for the Performing Arts.

Designed for students but open to community members, Classical Coffeehouse aims to expand the audience for traditional and contemporary music by offering a relaxed atmosphere with discussion and socializing between the audience and artist.

The series is presented by the center and the Penn State Alumni Association in partnership with the Blue and White Society and the Council of LionHearts. Each event is free for Penn State students, and to community members for a suggested $5 donation, and features complimentary refreshments. Seating is limited, but standing room is available.
