New hires at Penn State Brandywine bring enthusiasm to campus

MEDIA,Pa. — As Penn State Brandywine expands in multiple directions this year, the campus community has also welcomed several new hires: in the Office of Student Affairs, Latoya Kosh, Gary Miller and Tiana Peña Colón, and in the Office of Academic Affairs, Usha Nair Jenemann.

Miller, Brandywine’s associate director of student affairs, was previously the director of residence life at Georgian Court University. Miller has 17 years of experience in student affairs, including time at Penn State’s University Park campus, where he was the assistant director of the Office of Student Conduct.

“I am excited to once again be working for Penn State, and especially Penn State Brandywine,” Miller said. “My hope is that Student Affairs can provide out-of-classroom experiences that enhance a student's education while at the same time challenging them to explore and reflect on who they want to become and what they want to do.”

Kosh, Brandywine’s disabilities specialist, will work with the Office of Student Affairs to provide services to students with disabilities, support campus behavioral health programs, and work on student health initiatives. She comes to Brandywine with more than 10 years of school counseling experience and recently worked as a counselor in Fairfax County, Virginia.

“In this position, I'm looking forward to ‘disabling the label’ for the students here on campus and helping to bring awareness about ‘DisAbilities’ to the Brandywine community,” Kosh said.

Peña Colón is Brandywine’s coordinator of student life — a new position added to Brandywine with the opening of its first residence hall this semester. Prior to beginning her Brandywine career, Peña Colón served as an assistant area coordinator at the University of Massachusetts.

“As the coordinator for Orchard Hall I hope to add to campus life here at Brandywine,” said Peña Colón. “Residential living provides the perfect environment to foster development and growth outside of the classroom. I am looking forward to growing alongside our residents. The students are my driving force, and I am blessed to be able to serve as a guide and resource to them.”

Nair Jenemann, Brandywine’s new registrar, joins the Office of Academic Affairs after several years at Thomas Jefferson University, where she was the associate registrar. Prior to that, she was a student services coordinator at Thomas Jefferson University, taught English at Upper Darby High School, and earned her master’s of education from Penn State.

“At Brandywine, there exists a sense of community that is truly hard to find elsewhere. We support each other, and in doing so, support our students,” Nair Jenemann said. “It is such an exciting time to be here, and I hope to be a strong campus partner for faculty and staff, as well as a resource for our students.”
