Erica Frankenberg was quoted by The New York Times and The Nation regarding racial segregation in schools.

— Roger L. Geiger, distinguished professor emeritus of education policy studies, in partnership with Nathan M. Sorber of West Virginia University and Christian Anderson of the University of South Carolina, published "American Higher Education in the Postwar Era, 1945-1970."

John D. Holst, associate professor of lifelong learning and adult education, published a book he co-edited with Nico Pizzolato of the University of Middlesex, London. The book is titled "Antonio Gramsci: A Pedagogy to Change the World" and features contributions from scholars from the United States, Europe and Latin America.

Charles Hughes, professor of special education; Jared R. Morris, doctoral candidate in special education; and Bill Therrien and Sarah Benson, both of the University of Virginia, have published "Explicit Instruction: Historical and Contemporary Contexts" in Learning Disabilities: Research and Practice.

David Lee and David McNaughton, professors of special education, and Carolyn Mires, a 2015 alumna of the special education doctoral program, published "'Every child that is a foster child is marked from the beginning': The home-school communication experiences of foster parents of children with disabilities" in Child Abuse and Neglect.

— Andrew Markelz, Benjamin Riden and Karen Rizzo, doctoral candidates in special education, have published "Training Students with Behavioral Problems to Recruit Teacher Praise" in Beyond Behavior.

Gerald LeTendre, professor of education policy studies, along with Motoko Akiba, professor of education at Florida State University, edited The International Handbook of Teacher Quality and Policy, which was published by the Routledge Taylor & Francis Group.

Vivian Yenika-Agbaw, professor of language and literacy education, has been elected to the board of the International Research Society for Children's Literature, the top professional organization for scholars and researcher of children's literature.
