E-ZPass now available with Fleet vehicle rentals from Transportation Services

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Traveling for University business with a Fleet vehicle from Transportation Services just got easier.

All Fleet vehicles available for daily rentals by Penn State faculty and staff are now equipped with E-ZPass, the electronic toll collection system used at toll facilities in Pennsylvania and 15 other Northeastern and Midwestern states. Instead of stopping at toll booths to pay cash or using a personal E-ZPass, Fleet daily rental customers can now drive through E-ZPass lanes and have their tolls billed directly to the budget associated with their reservation.

University departments with long-term rental vehicles that wish to add E-ZPass may bring their vehicles to Fleet Operations on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to have E-ZPass transponders installed.

According to Rob DeMayo, director of Transportation Services, E-ZPass has been one of the most frequently-requested items from Fleet customers over the past several years.

“Our goal is to offer the best possible vehicle rental experience for University business travel, and to do so it’s important that we find ways to meet the needs of our customers,” says DeMayo. “E-ZPass adds great value to our Fleet vehicle rental service by making driving more convenient and simplifying the billing process for University departments.”

Because E-ZPass lanes are capable of scanning multiple transponders inside a vehicle, personal E-ZPass transponders should no longer be taken on Fleet daily rental trips to prevent duplicate charges for tolls.
