VoIP firmware upgrade to enhance features on certain telephone models

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — A telephone firmware upgrade to enhance security features, improve the visual display and provide additional call-handling features on Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone models 8811 and 8851 at all Penn State VoIP campuses will take place between Sept. 22-23.

While improvements to system security will be transparent, end users will notice such feature improvements as a brighter and lighter display for reducing eyestrain and glare, colorful icon badging for quick and easy visibility (model 8851 only), larger informational windows, additional font-sizing options, improved call conferencing management and procedures for answering secondary line appearances, and convenient incoming call management options — decline, silence and ignore. Improvements to the display will be most noticeable on VoIP phone model 8851 and are referenced and available for download at PSU_Cisco Improved Display+ Guide.pdf on Box.
