Palmer Museum of Art announces 'Paper Views' fall 2017 one-day exhibitions

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Palmer Museum of Art at Penn State is continuing its popular series of one-day exhibitions highlighting works on paper from the museum’s permanent collection. Open to the public, the works in the "Paper Views" series will be on display in the Drs. Albert and Lorraine Kligman Print and Drawing Study Room, located on the museum’s second floor. The public is also invited to participate in conversations about the individual exhibits scheduled for Sept. 8, Oct. 6, Nov. 3, and Dec. 1.

Patrick McGrady, Charles V. Hallman Curator, curated the exhibition "Daumier et alia: Caricature and Satire in Nineteenth-Century France" that will be on view from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, and will lead a conversation beginning at 1 p.m.

Randy Ploog, art historian, curated the exhibition "Japonism and American Modernism" that will be on view from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, and will lead a conversation beginning at 1 p.m.

Stephanie Snider, associate professor of art, curated the exhibition "Interiors" that will be on view from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, and will lead a conversation beginning at 1 p.m.

Joyce Robinson, curator, curated the exhibition "Recent Gifts from The Fishman-MacElderry Collection" that will be on view from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, and will lead a conversation beginning at 1 p.m.

All programs are held at the Palmer Museum of Art and are sponsored by the Friends of the Palmer Museum of Art unless otherwise noted.

Exhibitions on view at the Palmer Museum of Art this fall are "Asher B. Durand: To Begin Again," Sept. 5 through Dec. 10; "New Acquisitions: Minna Citron after Atelier 17," Sept. 5 through Dec. 10.; and "BIG Deal: Sizable Paintings from the Permanent Collection," Sept. 5 through Dec. 17.

The Palmer Museum of Art at Penn State is located on Curtin Road and admission is free. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. The museum is closed Mondays and some holidays. The museum will have modified hours of noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, through Sunday, Nov. 26; and Saturday, Dec. 16, through Thursday, Dec. 21. The museum will be closed Thursday, Nov. 23; Friday, Nov. 24; and Friday, Dec. 22, 2017, through Monday, Jan. 1, 2018.
