Great Valley Alumni Society to collect professional clothing for local charity

MALVERN, Pa. — Haven’t worn those dress pants in months? Or perhaps you bought a blazer for an interview, wore it once, and retired it to the back of your closet. Whatever the reason, the Penn State Great Valley Alumni Society seeks professional clothing and accessories donations.

The group will collect women’s and men’s apparel, scrubs tops and bottoms, accessories, shoes, unused undergarments, and unopened toiletries through Sept. 30. Donation bins are located in the Main Building and Conference Center Building at the Penn State Great Valley campus.

The Penn State Great Valley Alumni Society annually holds a drive on campus to benefit local agencies. Career Wardrobe is this year’s recipient, which is fitting considering that the organization’s goals align with those of Great Valley’s to use professional development to empower individuals to work and succeed.

Career Wardrobe understands that many people struggle with unemployment and need help in their professional lives. With six boutiques in six counties supplying no cost by referral or low cost professional clothing, they are accessible to the majority of southeastern Pennsylvania. While Career Wardrobe began as a nonprofit designed to help the interests’ of women, in 2015 they expanded with the Make It Work for Men program, opening their dressing services to the entire community.
