Schreyer Institute accepting applications for fall Course in College Teaching

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence at Penn State is accepting applications for its fall 2017 Course in College Teaching.

The eight-week course, facilitated by instructional consultants Mary Ann Tobin and Larkin Hood, combines the best elements of a collaborative learning environment with those of a seminar on pedagogy. Discussion of the current literature on teaching and learning, as well as facilitation by instructors from the Schreyer Institute’s experienced faculty, help prepare participants to design and implement both practical and reflective instructional activities.

The Course in College Teaching is a free, noncredit course. In fall 2017, it is open to any graduate student or postdoc with prior teaching experience or teaching assistantship. Interested faculty members are invited to participate as well.

The course will meet from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Thursdays from Sept. 7 to Nov. 2.

The application deadline is Wednesday, Aug. 30. Applicants will be notified of their status for the course by Friday, Sept. 1.
