Medical Center is top fundraiser for Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community

HERSHEY, Pa. — Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center was the top fundraiser in the annual Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community. A quarter of the more than 200 participants in the May event represented the Medical Center and raised $50,200.

Medical Center employees have been participating in this event since 2012 and have raised more than $184,000, which is donated through Highmark to several areas within the Medical Center. The event allows people who are unable to hold fundraisers for individual causes to do so by participating in the walk. This year, 26 teams representing different areas with the Medical Center participated, including the Cancer Institute, community health, pulmonary research, otolaryngology, the Children’s Hospital and neurology.
