Hirt, Murphy earn gold prize in Book of the Year Awards

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — Jen Hirt, assistant professor of creative writing and composition in Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Humanities, and Erin Murphy, professor of English at Penn State Altoona, received a gold prize in the anthology category of the Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Awards competition.

Hirt and Murphy are co-editors of an anthology titled “Creating Nonfiction: Twenty Essays and Interviews with the Writers.”

As part of the American Library Association’s annual conference, the awards recognize the best books published in 2016 from small, independent and university presses. More than 2,000 entries were submitted in 66 categories.
