Auxiliary and Business Services marketing team reap awards

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Members of the design team for Penn State Auxiliary & Business Services’ (A&BS) Marketing Office recently received recognition by winning several awards.

Andy Heckathorne, art director for the A&BS Marketing Office, won a silver medal at the Bracket Awards for his “Italian Holiday” illustration for Penn State Campus Dining. Bracket Awards are presented by the Central Pennsylvania Creative Professionals ([CP]2), a nonprofit membership organization that supports professionals across the marketing communications arena. Heckathorne also won a gold medal for an illustration and logo for Coastal Beverage.

Graphic designer Doug Irwin won a silver Bracket Award for his “Cabaret” poster design for FUSE Productions, a State College-based organization that brings together local actors, Penn State alumni, students and faculty, as well as professional actors from around the country to create professional theatre in the Centre region.

Graphic designer Elyse Kuhn was part of a team that received a bronze medal from the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS) for their design work on Penn State Campus Dining’s Red Carpet theme dinner. The award will be presented at the NACUFS national conference in July, and design elements of the event will be featured in Food Management Magazine.

“Each member of the A&BS marketing team plays a critical role in our success,” Heckathorne says, “in meeting with clients, designing creative briefs, and communicating project scopes. When we are all pulling in the same direction, we collectively create some great things!”
