Ten Penn State students enrolled in the Philadelphia regional general engineering degree program presented senior capstone projects at the annual Design Expo, held recently at Penn State Great Valley.
Engineering faculty Kathryn Jablokow and Douglas Schumer introduced the two teams and their projects, which involved creating a new product with the support of industry sponsors.
The expo consisted of the capstone presentations as well as a robotics engineering exhibit, embedded software engineering projects developed by juniors in the program, and a self-guided tour of the engineering lab.
Members of the public and judging panels of industry experts and Penn State faculty voted on their favorite project. Awards included:
- Best Engineering and Projects awards: Great Valley Design Solutions Team, Tensile Tester
- Outstanding Project Award: Creating a Different Tomorrow Team: Thermal Camera
- Design Expo People’s Choice Award: Great Valley Design Solutions Team: Tensile Tester
