Engineering Graduate Student Council, Red Cross to host blood drive May 24

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Engineering Graduate Student Council (EGSC) and the American Red Cross will host a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on May 24 in Kunkle Lounge in Hammond Building on the University Park campus.

Those interested in donating can check appointment availability here and then schedule an appointment via a Google form.

Ling Yang, doctoral candidate in bioengineering and EGSC blood drive coordinator, said the need for blood is critical in the summer months.

New and returning donors are encouraged to download the American Red Cross Blood Donor app.

“The app has your donor card on it, so you won’t need to worry about carrying it with you anymore,” said Yang. “It has your donation history, tracks how many units you have given, tracks your health history vitals (pulse, hemoglobin and blood pressure), and tells you when you are eligible to donate again for whole blood, power reds and platelets. You can also easily make an appointment through the app.”

Questions about the blood drive can be directed to Yang at lby5034@psu.edu
