David P. Baker, professor of educational theory and policy, and sociology, was the keynote speaker at the Institute of Education and Society at the University of Luxembourg. He presented “Science Production in the United States: An Unexpected Synergy between Mass Higher Education and the Super Research University" on April 26.

— Fernanda Bonafini, a doctoral student in curriculum and instruction, created mandala (artistic circles that represent wholeness and inner peace), which will be on display in the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, 209 Old Main, from May 12 to Sept. 17. Kathy Fadigan, assistant professor of science education at Penn State Abington, presented a paper titled “Aren’t You Afraid of Getting Sick?: Using Social Networking Sites to Explore the Socioscientific Issues of Food Waste and Sustainability,” at the National Association of Research in Science Teaching in San Antonio.

Erica Frankenberg, associate professor of educational leadership and demography, was quoted in The Washington Post regarding a federal judge's ruling to allow a predominantly white Alabama city to secede from its ethnically diverse school district.

Kevin Kinser, professor of higher education, was quoted in MarketWatch about Purdue University's decision to buy Kaplan University, a for-profit institution.
