AAUW to host discussion on property tax reform

The State College chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) is sponsoring a panel discussion to inform the public about issues related to Senate Bill 76, which proposes to eliminate school property taxes. The event is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 29, at the Central Pennsylvania Convention and Visitors Bureau. Refreshments will be served starting at 9 a.m. No reservations are required.

The panel will be moderated by State College Area School District board member David Hutchinson. Panelist are: Sue Spicka of Education Voters of Pennsylvania; Sean Crampsie of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association; Rep. Kerry Benninghoff, R-Bellefonte; and Rep. Night of Remembrance scheduled for April 27

Penn State will honor and remember 27 students who died this past academic year. The Penn State Night of Remembrance, organized by the University Park Undergraduate Association, will be held from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27, on the Old Main steps on the University Park campus. The candlelight service will be an opportunity for reflection, and anyone who feels moved to speak will have the chance to do so. Promoting child well-being to be topic of upcoming lecture

Penn State alumna Janet Rosenzweig will present "Is It Well With The Children?" at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27, in Freeman Auditorium. During the talk, Rosenzweig will discuss her work as vice president for research and programs at Prevent Child Abuse America, where she led the strategic initiative to develop a methodology to assess child well-being across the social ecology. College newsletters change to summer schedule

During the summer months, Connections, the faculty, staff and student newsletter for the College of Education, will run on a once-per-month schedule, starting May 10. The college’s other newsletter, Bridges, also will run monthly through the summer. Both publications will return to their regular bi-weekly schedule at the start of the fall semester.
