UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Thousands of people walk around Penn State’s campus every day, but how many have seen the University from above? Students will now have that chance at the Lion Ambassadors’ Old Main Open House event.

Old Main Open House will take place from 1-4 p.m., Wednesday, April 19. Penn Staters will have the opportunity to take a tour to learn about the history of Old Main and climb the bell tower, which is normally closed to the public.

“I’m really excited to showcase one of the most iconic and historic buildings on campus again this year,” Project Leader Megan Saich said. “Climbing the bell tower and seeing campus from a completely different perspective is something that every student should do. It’s truly incredible.”

Other activities will include a caricaturist, mini golf, various carnival-themed games and contests to win prizes. Participants can also enjoy free food including mini pies, Philly Soft Pretzel Factory pretzels, Rita’s Ice, Berkey Creamery ice cream and cake. The event is free and open to the public.

The Penn State Lion Ambassadors are the student alumni corps of the Penn State Alumni Association who aim to communicate the University’s history, personality and traditions to students, alumni and friends through tours and programming. Founded in 1982, the Lion Ambassadors serve as an important facet of student outreach for the Alumni Association.
