UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Spring is here, and so is gardening season. Because healthy seedlings are the foundation for a productive growing season, a variety of vegetable and herb plants grown by the Student Farm Club will be available for sale from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 28, in Headhouse 2, across from the Berkey Creamery on Curtin Road. All proceeds will benefit the Student Farm at Penn State.

Club members and interns have been busy planting a variety of crops for the Student Farm’s annual plant sale and upcoming growing season. Seedlings available at this year’s sale include tomatoes, eggplant, squash, peppers, cucumbers, kale, cabbage, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, watermelon, herbs and more.

In addition to seedlings, club merchandise will also be available for purchase, including T-shirts, ball caps and canvas tote bags.

Students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to attend the sale, and to learn more about the Student Farm and Penn State’s Sustainable Food Systems Program. The number of plants available is limited, and plants will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Accepted forms of payments include cash or check. Student Farm Club members ask sale goers to remember to bring their own bags or a box for purchased plants.
