Students invited to participate in financial literacy poster competition

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — All Penn State undergraduate students at University Park are invited to participate in a poster competition focusing on the topic of student loan repayment, sponsored by the University Park Undergraduate Association (UPUA) and the Penn State Financial Literacy Center. The competition will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, in room 233 of the HUB.

Students should bring their completed posters to room 233 by 11 a.m. Posters submitted to the competition will be put on public display.

Judging will take place from 3 to 4 p.m., and the top three ranked poster creators will be given the opportunity to give a short presentation. Prizes will be given for first, second and third place.

Posters can include anything related to the topic of student loans and loan repayment. The theme is intentionally broad in order to encourage students to creatively explore their own thinking, concerns, knowledge and understanding of the subject. Entries can vary in size but should not exceed 24 inches by 36 inches.

"We at the Penn State Financial Literacy Center are committed to increasing financial literacy," said Brad Yeckley, assistant director of the center. “This contest, in conjunction with April being Financial Literacy Month, is a step that we feel will help to raise awareness, and we'd like to make this an annual event. We encourage all undergraduates to join in the competition. ”
