UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State is accepting applications for its new online graduate certificate in accounting that has been designed to supplement the educational credit requirements necessary for CPA licensure in most states.

The new 12-credit graduate certificate is being led by Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Business Administration and offered online through Penn State World Campus.

Students will take a required course in auditing theory and practice and choose an additional three courses on subjects that interest them, such as tax planning, strategic cost management, financial reporting and more.

“This new certificate will teach advanced accounting skills that can be immediately used in the workplace,” said Thomas Amlie, associate professor and lead faculty member of the program. “It is also a great way for adult learners, who may be balancing their jobs and family, to earn a credential without committing to the master’s degree right away.”

Those who complete the graduate certificate in accounting may be able to apply the credits toward the master of professional studies in accounting that is also offered online through Penn State World Campus.

Visit the Penn State World Campus website for more information about the new certificate.
