Alumni Updates: March 8, 2017

— Patty (Hawk) Greeno (1979, bachelor of science) recently retired from The Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf after over 37  years of service. Before joining the school in September 1979, she worked as an itinerant teacher of the deaf for IU 8 in Altoona. In celebration of her Penn State heritage, Greeno led guests at her retirement party, which included past graduates from the Penn State Deaf Education program, in the “We Are” chant.

— Nicholas Indeglio (1998, bachelor of science), principal of Downingtown Middle School in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, has been named one of three Digital Principals of the Year by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP). The annual award is given to three principals who exhibit the best in digital leadership within their schools. Indeglio, along with a fellow principal, is a “Rock Star Principal” at Downingtown Area School District who produces weekly education-related podcasts. He earned his bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Penn State, where he also served as the Nittany Lion Mascot for two years.
