Open access to research articles available

The University of Chicago Press is offering free access to a collection of recently published articles from more than 10 education journals, including the American Journal of Education. Articles were selected for scholars attending the 2017 meetings of the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES) and the American Educational Research Association (AERA), and can be viewed by visiting http://bit.ly/2lvGYkJ.

Website offers up-to-date information and statements on immigration

Penn State has aggregated public comments and resources shared with the University community and the public in the past month regarding Penn State’s position on immigration, changes in federal policy and key issues impacting our community. The site — http://pennstateupdate.psu.edu/ — offers up-to-date statements and resources that may be helpful for those looking for accurate information.

Canvas Day scheduled for March 17

The spring 2017 semester will be last semester faculty can use ANGEL for their courses. All courses must be transitioned to Canvas by June 2017. To aid in this transition, the Canvas Transition Team will host "Canvas Day" on March 17 at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center. Four types of sessions will be offered — expo, hands-on training, demo and consultations — so that participants can find what best suit their needs. Recreation Advisory Council seeks applicants

Penn State Student Affairs and Campus Recreation are seeking applications from students to serve on the advisory council. Council members will work with the senior director of campus recreation to make recommendations to help enhance the health, fitness and well-being of the campus community. Students interested in serving should complete the online application by Friday, March 3.

Graduate students encouraged to apply for summer tuition assistance

The Summer Tuition Assistance Program (STAP) portal is now open for graduate students to apply for summer tuition assistance. To be eligible, graduate students must have held either an assistantship or fellowship for both the fall 2016 and spring 2017 semesters; however, students cannot be on an assistantship or fellowship during the summer months. Students encouraged to apply for scholarships

The College of Education’s scholarship committee is accepting applications for college-specific scholarships available for the 2017-18 academic year. The college has academic awards within all fields of study, and undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to be recognized for their achievements and to alleviate tuition bills, loans and other expenses. Research workshop scheduled for March 17

Faculty and student researchers will have the opportunity to learn about three database resources that can help support their research. Participants will learn about SciVal, SciVal Funding and Navigate Education in PA. The workshop will take place from 3 to 4 p.m. Friday, March 17, in Krause Innovation Studio. Graduate Student Council seeks board nominations

The College of Education Graduate Student Council (COEGSC) is accepting executive board nominations for the 2017-18 academic year. All college graduate students are eligible for the positions of president, vice president, treasurer, secretary and web coordinator. University announces ‘All In’ award, seeks nominations

“All In at Penn State: An Achievement Award for Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion” will honor a member of the University community who helps Penn State achieve its mission of being a leader in research, learning and engagement by embracing diversity and affecting the world in positive and enduring ways. Nominations will be accepted until March 13 for any full-time student or faculty or staff member across the University. Recipients of the award will receive a $1,500 stipend.
