UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Following a stellar performance against the Cornell Big Red, Penn State men’s lacrosse sophomore attackman Grant Ament has been named both the Alpha Lacrosse National Player of the Week, presented by Inside Lacrosse, and the USILA/BSN Sports D1 Lacrosse Player of the Week.

Ament is the first Penn State player to ever be named national player of the week by either Inside Lacrosse or the USILA.

Ament earned his first ever weekly national honors following a 9-point game against Cornell on a career-best six goals and three assists. The 9-point performance was the best by any player in the Big Ten so far during the 2017 season and marked a career-best performance for the Doylestown, Pa., native. Ament’s nine points rank second nationally behind only junior Justin Guterding of Duke who posted 10 points against Cleveland State.

Ament co-leads the team in points (19) early in the 2017 campaign with 11 goals and a team-high eight assists. Ament’s 11 goals tie for fifth nationally, while his 2.67 assists per game rank second in the Big Ten.
