UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Employee Health and Wellness Center will officially open its doors to the University community on Feb. 13.

Operated by Penn State Medical Group, part of Penn State Health, the center will provide acute care to full- and part-time employees who become ill at work and cannot make an immediate trip to their primary care physician. Services will be provided by several nurse practitioners, with a Penn State Health physician on site two days a week.

Located in 109 Nursing Sciences Building at University Park, the center will provide walk-in service from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. No appointments will be necessary.

With a convenient central campus location, the center is within walking distance for most University Park employees. Public parking is available on College Avenue and in the McAllister and Pugh Street parking decks.

Treatment will be provided for many common conditions such as allergies, bronchitis, colds/flu, respiratory infections, upset stomach, minor skin conditions and sinusitis. Employees should seek treatment elsewhere for serious, chronic, life-threatening or work-related ailments or injuries.

All employees of the University are eligible for treatment at the center, regardless of whether they have health insurance coverage through Penn State’s medical plan. This includes full- and part-time faculty and staff, wage-payroll and technical service employees, and postdoctoral fellows and scholars. Students will continue to receive care at the Student Health Center through University Health Services.

The center’s phone number is 814-689-6800. For more information, visit the center’s website.
