STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — The Woskob Family Gallery is pleased to announce the exhibition "Pattern Recognition," curated by gallery director Ann Tarantino, from Jan. 19 through March 3.

Pattern Recognition draws inspiration from the pervasiveness of pattern in our world: from our brains to our clothes, from the movements of the tides to those of machines, the repetition of units — pixels, threads, neurons or otherwise — pattern is an organizing factor that underlies much of daily life.

From a national open call, Tarantino selected works by 24 contemporary artists that engage with the themes of patterns of nature, patterns of culture, and patterns of space. The artists included in the exhibition create in a multitude of media and produce both abstract and representational work. The included artists are Scott Andresen, David Bogus, Agnes Burris, Frid Branham, Susan Marie Brundage, Katie DeGroot, Brian Michael Dunn, Liz Ensz, Mary Finlayson, Alex Goldberg, Theresa Gooby, Elham Hajesmaeili, Meghan Hildebrant, Robert Howsare, Anna Kell, Niki Kriese, Christopher McNulty, Claudia Sbrissa, Vivianne Rombaldi Seppey, Yun Shin, Pamela Shipley, Gerri Spilka and Katherine Wagner.

In addition to the works on display, the gallery is offering interactive programming related to the concept of pattern. These include opportunities to dance, participate in a printmaking workshop, and enjoy an informal jazz concert in the gallery. More information on these events can be found at woskobfamilygallery.psu.edu.

The Woskob Family Gallery is a contemporary art space in downtown State College that brings a cohesive and carefully curated program of exhibitions and events to central Pennsylvania. The gallery is located at 146 South Allen Street, State College, Pennsylvania, in the Penn State Downtown Theatre Center.
