— Lauren Cozad, a doctoral student studying special education, and Paul Riccomini, associate professor of special education, recently published “Effects of Digital-Based Math Fluency Interventions of Learners with Math Difficulties: A Review of Literature” in the Journal of Special Education Apprenticeship.

Linda Duerr, instructor of curriculum and instruction; Dorothy Evensen, professor of higher education and senior scientist; Bonnie Meyer, professor of educational psychology; and Robert Stevens, professor of educational psychology, were recently recognized by the University for completing 25 years of service at Penn State.

Erica Frankenberg, associate professor of educational leadership and demography and co-director of the Center for Education and Civil Rights, has written a review of “Segregation, Race, and Charter Schools: What Do We Know?” which was published by the National Education Policy Center and featured in an article published by the El Paso Herald-Post. Frankenberg, who has been named an influential scholar by the American Enterprise Institute, also recently spoke with Think Progress and The Christian Science Monitor about the effect of school vouchers on racial disparities in schools.

Rayne A. Sperling, associate professor of educational psychology, and Nicole Wang, a doctoral student in learning, design and technology, have been awarded grants through Penn State’s Center for Online Innovation in Learning's (COIL) Research Initiation Grant program.

— Vanessa Miller, a joint Penn State Law and higher education student, has been invited to speak about free speech and inclusivity at the 2017 NEA Higher Education conference scheduled for March 17-19 in Dallas, Texas.
